Alabama quarry donates stone to ‘Soldier’s Rest’

On Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, a special flag ceremony was held at the Florence City Cemetery to dedicate a special new feature, and Rogers Group stone was at the bottom of it.

Earlier this year, Rogers Group’s offices in Tuscumbia, Alabama, were contacted by Alex McDowell asking for assistance with a special project in pursuit of his Eagle Scout badge. The project was to build a “Soldier’s Rest” area where families of fallen service men and/or veterans can come, sit, and visit. Using RGI stone as the base, Alex built a retaining wall, laid flower beds and erected a flagpole.

The project garnered the attention in local press.
